Love is Freedom

This is an old art project I did for a graphic arts class when I was about 14.

We were supposed to choose a topic that we strongly believed in like: animal rights, anti-bullying, women's rights, breast cancer (those are just a few topics my other classmates decided on) and I chose to do mine on Gay and Lesbian Rights... which then led my entire class to just assume that I was a lesbian like the ignorant masses they are- just because someone is a supporter of the LGBT community does NOT automatically mean that they have to be Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender. I mean, what? Just because I'm straight I have to either hate anyone in the LGBT community or I have to just ignore them...? It really annoys the CRAP out of me when people make such close-minded assumptions and I feel sorry for those people who seem to be able to only see the world in black and white.

Anyway... I'm not TOO satisfied w/ how it turned out but then again, I tend to judge my own work pretty harshly. The teacher gave me an 'A' and I ended up making friends with a bisexual girl who said that my piece inspired her (though no one really knew she was bisexual at the time) and she ended up coming-out to me a few weeks later. Even after graduating high school we're both still really close.
